Taylor Swift's fan base, famously known as the "Swifties," has once again demonstrated their unwavering devotion to the pop sensation. In a remarkable display of fandom power, Swifties managed to crash the AMC app while attempting to secure tickets for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert-turned-movie.
The unexpected announcement of Swift's Eras Tour being transformed into a cinematic experience sent shockwaves of excitement among her fans. Rushing to secure their seats, Swifties flocked to the AMC app in droves, resulting in a site crash. According to reports from Collider, the app issued a message acknowledging the technical difficulties caused by the overwhelming demand. Online reservations temporarily became unavailable due to the high volume of traffic, prompting the app to redirect potential ticket buyers to visit their local AMC Theatre in person.
Billboard has reached out to AMC for further details on the incident. AMC acknowledged the incredible demand from Taylor Swift fans and expressed their commitment to addressing any delays or outages swiftly. The company stated, "AMC is also aware that no ticketing system in history seems to have been able to accommodate the soaring demand from Taylor Swift fans when tickets are first placed on sale. Guests wanting to be the first to buy their tickets online may experience delays, longer-than-usual ticket-purchase waiting-room times and possible outages. AMC is committed to ensuring any delays or outages are addressed as quickly as possible," as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Starting from October 13, Taylor Swift enthusiasts can experience the Eras Tour concert film on the big screen across every U.S. AMC Theatre location. The movie will run at least four times per day on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Ticket prices are set at $19.89 plus tax for adults and $13.13 plus tax for children and seniors (excluding AMC's premium large-format screens.) The film will be available in AMC theaters not only in the United States but also in Canada and Mexico, with tickets currently on sale.
Taylor Swift herself joined in the excitement by sharing a trailer for the film on her social media, expressing her enthusiasm for the project. She wrote, "The Eras Tour has been the most meaningful, electric experience of my life so far, and I'm overjoyed to tell you that it'll be coming to the big screen soon. Starting Oct 13th you'll be able to experience the concert film in theaters in North America! Tickets are on sale now." She encouraged fans to embrace the Eras theme, friendship bracelets, singing, and dancing as they prepare to relive the magic of her tour on the silver screen.
Once again, the Swifties' remarkable support has proven that their devotion to Taylor Swift knows no bounds, and the anticipation for the Eras Tour film is at an all-time high.
