StarCraft is a unique game, and we want everyone who shares our love for this universe to find a
home in it for many years to come. With that in mind, we'd like to let you know about a long-term development change for StarCraft II.

As many of you know, Blizzard continues to bring updates to its games long after launch; some of you may remember that we continued to update the original StarCraft for over 10 years after its release. This year, we celebrated 10 years of StarCraft II with one of the game's most ambitious updates, bringing important new features to the editor, prestige talents for co-op commanders, and improvements gameplay for gamers around the world.

We will continue to maintain StarCraft II the same way we did our previous long-running games like Brood War, focusing first and foremost on what matters most to regulars and competitive players. In other words, we will no longer produce purchasable content, such as Commanders or War Chests, but we will continue to renew seasons and make balance fixes as needed. Speaking of which, we don't plan to roll out a balance update for the last quarter of the year, since we already did one a few months ago, but as always, we plan to keep bringing the updates needed later. StarCraft II esports, which sits at the top echelon of professional competitive gaming, will continue to be as strong as ever thanks to our partners at ESL Gaming and GSL.

We know some players were attached to things we're moving away from today, but the good news is that this change will give us time to think about what's next, not just for StarCraft II, but for the universe of StarCraft as a whole.

StarCraft is a mainstay of Blizzard, and we've found it to be a life-changing game for its enthusiasts, whether they're gamers, content creators, streamers, or community members (or developers) . The outcome of each game is 100% in your hands. To improve, you need to work on yourself, be honest about your flaws, and do whatever it takes to grow. StarCraft teaches us that this drive for improvement can be a reward in itself, and at Blizzard, the game has taught us a lot over the years.
